Educators Voice Concern as AI Quickly Enters Classrooms
In early November 2025, Microsoft announced plans to supply AI-powered tools and educational support to more than 200,000 students and teachers in the United Arab Emirates. Shortly afterward, a financial services company in Kazakhstan revealed it had secured an agreement with OpenAI to introduce the ChatGPT Edu platform to roughly 165,000 educators.
In Florida, large public school districts have also expanded the use of AI technology. Miami-Dade County Public Schools granted more than 100,000 high school students access to Google’s Gemini chatbot, while Broward County Public Schools rolled out Microsoft’s Copilot for thousands of teachers and administrative employees.
Beyond the United States, similar initiatives are underway. xAI, owned by Elon Musk, announced intentions to create an AI-based teaching system built on its Grok platform for more than one million students across thousands of schools in El Salvador.
Microsoft has also stated it will work with Thailand’s Ministry of Education to provide free AI-related courses to hundreds of thousands of students, along with specialized training for 150,000 teachers. Meanwhile, OpenAI has committed to offering ChatGPT access to educators working in India’s public school system.
Supporters within the technology sector and some education officials argue that AI chatbots can help ease teachers’ workloads, tailor lessons to individual students, and better prepare young people for an economy increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.
